I purchased this as a gift for my husband and his is absolutely thrilled with it. A really lovely little book, full of gorgeous illustrations of lovely British birds. Very happy.

As a keen watercolour painter, I have been enjoying the Jim Moir (Vic Reeves) series on the TV. I admire Jim’s technique, and the reproductions in this book are excellent, and will bring back happy memories of the TV series.
The quality of the colour prints is good – I just wish they were bigger, but we have had a lot of pleasure out of this one. And perhaps a bit of inspiration too.

Bought this book for my husband who’s a bird fanatic and an artist himself. He liked the book and knows every bird in it but said some of the illustrations were ‘dodgy’ – he didn’t recognise from the illustrations a few of the birds he knew well. Overall though he thought the book was good and some of the illustrations were excellent

Thus was a birthday present for my son, who was delighted

This was a present for somebody who I know loved the series. They are really happy with the purchase. I know there are other reviews that have been critical of the paintings themselves and I can see that some of the paintings might seem a bit basic, but ultimately as an art book it provides a source of inspiration. If it is viewed as a book to inspire creativity and imagination then it works. It also connects you to the series if you enjoyed that. It is also aimed at all ages too, which is not always easy to achieve for an art book.
