You must read this book its amazing. I have been ill for about 5 years, Fibromyalgia, strange bowel problems, getting steadily more and more confused, couldn’t work, couldn’t get answers from doctors, taking medication I don’t believe in because was scared and didn’t know what else to do. Then came the hypothyroidism and the meds for that too, still getting worse and worse, oh and thats not including putting on 5 stone in 2 years. This book has really really started back into understanding what has gone wrong and at last I feel I can moving forward again. Its taking time, but for the first time in 3 years I am losing weight instaed of putting it on.
If you or anyone you know is being challenged by life through health, weight or mental issues (ok thats just about most of us) the kindest thing you could do for them or yourself is read this book. I had began to think that in my 50’s that was it, it was all down hill and crappy from now on. I actually feel that this is not the end of the story, that I can be well again. Good healing and happy life to you all, we all deserve to be well.

I was very ill and I did not know what was wrong with me. The first thing I did was consult my GP which suggest me to do a Urine and blood test, which I did but they could not find anything wrong with me! Oh very strange I thought.
Until I decided to use Google put my symptoms keywords in the search engine and I came across this brilliant book by Mark Hyman. I fully read it and because Doctor Mark was based in the U.S.A. and not in the UK, I’ve found a nutritionist in London. I decide to book an appointment, and I went to see her. I explained my symptoms such as low energy, brain fog, lack of motivation, weight loss, and she decided to do a specific a blood and stool test. I did, and when the results came, she said that I had almost the “CANDIDA!”
She give me a strictly diet for 3 months and she said that I could not eat specific food such as east, milk, sugar, alcohol and more. When she said that the world crashed on me because that what I was eating daily….but I decided to follow her prescribed strict diet. After the 3 months when I finished the diet I felt like new man!!! I could talk better, my brain was so clear, I felt healthier and stronger and I gained weight.
This is the proof that you can heel yourself without medication. The thing make me upset is that the NHS does not recognize nutrition saying that there is not enough scientific evidence that is working BUT that’s a liar. How come they could not find anything wrong with me and doing a specific test they proof them wrong…… I tell you WHY they do not recognize Nutrition because that will affect the BIG medicine corporation by selling less medicine. That’s the truth that they do not want you to know. Also do you know the big side effect when you are taking medicine? Let’s take just one example. Do you know when you are taking antibiotics in your body that kills also your friendly bacteria in your gut and opens you to a numerous diseases? Such as CANDIDA!!! So whatever you are taking antibiotics do remember when you finish the treatment to re-introduce friendly bacteria back into your GUT! I am my own DOCTOR and I do not need one!

i love this book, it’s my new bible. Now well thumbed and constantly dipped into for advice and tips, whether for myself or for friends. I came off antidepressants (in a controlled and proper manner) after reading this book, i don’t know at this stage whether i will manage to stay off them but this book gave me hope, education and i definitely felt more in control of my mind through nutrition and supplements. it has a snowball effect, once you start educating yourself about vitamins etc and the effect it has on your mind, how you think and how you feel, you will be encouraged to try little changes,… once those small changes are put into place you feel so much better that you start making more healthy choices…..i lost weight, people started commenting about how good i looked, i felt great and certainly didn’t feel like i’d been dieting at all! It has to be said that when i started taking it for granted and slipping back into my old junk food/sugar addiction, i slipped back into feeling the ‘blehs’.and the weight started creeping on again, absolute proof that food and nutrition is soooooo important – not just to your weight but how you feel. I just go back to the book and remind myself again of the facts i learned the first time round. Buy this book if you’re depressed, try changing your diet, adding vitamins and minerals… you’ve nothing to loose and everything to gain. I would really recommend it and will never be without this book.

This book genuinely saved my sanity and restored my brain to full working order again after years of bizarre symptoms.I thought I was going mad. It’s highly researched and science-based (occassional “woolly” sections that are more enthusiasm and anecdote than proof but which can generally be forgiven – even by someone with a hard-core science training like me). For me, it was just the start of a journey of discovery about what breaks my brain and what keeps it in tip top working condition. I’m healthy, productive, mentally clear and above all happy again. This could genuinely save some people’s lives.
I’ve come to rereading after first buying it about ten years ago. I’d fallen back into bad dietary habits and my brain and energy were suffering again. Just a few days later after rereading and reimplementing Dr Hyman’s ideas and I’m tip top again.
