Should have been the first book I bought, not the last. Full of relevant and well laid out knowledge, a truly inspirational book.

I purchased this book for a Christmas present for my neighbour who is just starting to grow vegetables etc. I read the excellent reviews and hope he will find the book useful in his new hobby

This book is concise and well organized with an index at the back so it can easily be used as a quick reference. If you are interested in permaculture and no-dig gardening this guide is definitely what you need to get started. And after you start this book it will keep you going with trouble shooting and efficiency ideas. I was already a fan of Huw Richards through his Youtube channel so ordering the book seemed natural. I can say though, I was pleasantly surprised to see the book, and have already read it from cover to cover. Oh and if you don’t actually have a garden and dream of having one, get this book! The writing flows like good novel and the photos are stunning and inspiring.

Have bought several books lately as a newbie to No Dig (actually all kitchen) gardening.

This book has it all and is by far my favourite.

Highlights for me as a new starter include:
    – Compact & concise section on each of the veg groups from seed to harvest (as I was getting confused with my calendar and the seed envelopes as to where I was and what was next for say, onions).
    – Section on natural pest control, natural inoculants, feeds and mulches
    – ‘Clean’ layout of the book, easy to navigate with gorgeous pictures
    – Permaculture ideas / direction without too much rigidity / detail (other books I have are too ‘heavy’ for my stage in gardening)
    – The suggested planting plan layouts
    – Master growing chart (year at-a-glance for each veg)
    – Polytunnel goals…. sighhhh…. (Last image)

This will be my bible for my new garden

Having been a grower for over fifty years and   amassing many gardening books in that time, one gets used to finding content being a rehash of the same old stuff, but this book is different. Huw successfully pulls on many disparate disciplines such as time management, creating a mission statement, to create a very different take on gardening- a philosophy really. Many aspects of growing, such as Korean National Farming techniques, permaculture, organisational structuring  are discussed in original and thoughtful ways.
I have followed his truly excellent videos for some years. I have also bought his other books, which were great, but ‘The Vegetable Grower’s Handbook’ is really rather special.
