The Wedding Night: An absolutely unputdownable family drama packed with secrets and suspense
£0.90
It’s supposed to be the happiest day of my life… But as I walk down the aisle towards the man I love, my gaze searches frantically for my daughter’s beautiful face. She’s missing. And I fear that I am to blame.
The wedding is cancelled. I can’t stop shaking. Standing amidst the wilting flowers and discarded champagne, I swear I’ll stop at nothing to find my precious girl.
Crying into my fiancé William’s arms, he promises me we’ll find her. I desperately want to believe him, yet deep down I sense there are secrets at the heart of our new life together. He’s loved my daughter like his own and welcomed us into this stunning home, with its fireplaces and tree-lined driveway, but something isn’t right. Have I been too trusting? Surely he will do anything it takes to find my missing daughter… Won’t he?
I thought I’d built a loving new family for my little girl, but I’ve brought her into terrible danger. It seems the perfect life has turned out to be the perfect lie.
A totally unputdownable family drama about the secrets that lurk under the glossy surface of a perfect new life. Perfect for fans of Sally Hepworth, Liane Moriarty and Kerry Fisher.

One of those books you CAN NOT put down
by Moviebrat
I read this in one sitting completely transfixed. Clare Boyd has fashioned a great story with the backdrop of the complexities of suburban English society at the core. The portrait of the lives of confused adolescents is immensely accurate. Equally issues surrounding the tensions arising from familial conflict. This book is beautifully written – wry, funny, dramatic and realistic. A great read whether on holiday or as a nighttime diversion.

I loved every word of this latest novel by Clare Boyd. Her insights into both the past and the current struggles of her characters are so striking that I felt I was actually on the page with them. The sense of place and tension are exquisitely crafted. This is an absolute must-read!

I read this in one sitting; I couldn’t put it down. It’s the perfect holiday read. Each character is so well thought out, taking us on a journey through the painful rites of passage of today’s adolescents and highlighting the complex dangers they face. Clare bravely exposes the flaws in each character without judgement, with such strong psychological description that you share their anguish and at the same time feel such sadness for their mistakes.
So evocatively written that I felt I was alongside each character, uncovering their secrets, wandering around in their heads and exploring the scenery. Beautiful, heart wrenching, at times frightening, especially if you have teenagers.

This was the first I’ve read of Clare Boyd’s work and I loved it. Intricate & gripping storyline, characters with a past and a mix of broken and brilliant relationships. A perfect holiday read for me!

Little Liar, Three Secrets, Her Closest Friend, were 5 * for me. The Perfect Wife, I didn’t care enough to finish. This one I found slow, I liked the characters but I didn’t feel I knew them well. The plot wasn’t gripping and I skimmed through parts trying to get to the good bit. For me there wasn’t one. There was repetition and a lack of pace.
