As a leader this book has helped me to articulate and write down the values I hold dear and what I will do to ensure I live by these. This task alone and how Rachel, the author sets out the tasks at the start of the book is really clear and easy to understand. It’s the articulation of this that was hard but has helped me to not go against these principles in dealing with issues now. I wish I had this book at the start of my leadership roles in school. The chapter about having to have crucial conversations was relevant then as still is today in my current work. Writing down the values and principles I hold dear at the start of the book makes having the difficult conversations less of a struggle. I sat with my highlighter ready but could have highlighted the whole book so stopped. I hope there will be another installment soon.

This is a fantastic read for both aspiring and established leaders. Accessible yet comprehensive, this book contains all you need to know about leadership in under 100 pages. I particularly like the ‘making it happen’ sections, which contain some top tips to boost your leadership. Highly recommended!

This is a must read for any busy leader. If you are someone who finds some leadership books frustrating in the amount of unnecessary repetition and waffle, then this is definitely the book for you. Rachel has expertly synthesised countless leadership ideas into a precise and clear way that will resonate with any leader out there. It is packed full of practical advice and the questions at the end of each chapter are gold. Succinct, to the point and hugely valuable.
