Trauma Room Two

£0.90

In every hospital emergency department there is a room reserved for trauma. It is a place where life and death meet. A place where some families celebrate the most improbable of victories while others face the most devastating of losses. A place where what matters the most in this life is revealed.

Trauma Room Two is just such a place.

In this collection of short stories, Dr. Green takes the reader inside the hidden emotional landscape of emergency medicine. Based on fifteen years of experience as an ER physician, he reveals the profound moments that often occur in emergency rooms for patients, their families, and the staff that work there.

This is an amazing account of the affect this doctors working life has had. Not a tv episode account. This is the emotional account that the years leave you with.
People may not understand it, though those who have worked in a critical care field will understand this, you may well ask why do we do it. Medical staff ask themselves too, believe me.
This is what they don’t prepare you for!
Perhaps it should be required reading, then patients would know what we don’t talk about, but live with.

I admit that I expected more from this book. Yes, the authors manages to produce emotions and learning about the A&E in the US is quite fascinating. But there is occasionally too much repetition and some (but not all!) of the outcomes were too predictable.

Very well written. Very emotional in places. It is difficult to understand how doctors cope in emergency situations in a large hospital let alone a small one like this
