Love the new curriculum!

A fabulous collection of syllabus music for kit drummers. It’s inspired….. my students and I love their relatively new syllabus at all grade levels.

Between this and Rockschool, I definitely recommend this Trinity series more. The grade 1 and 2 songs are much more challenging and teach me techniques compared to Rockschool at the same level, which is just boots and cats 4/4 bass/snare/hi-hat tunes. If you’re serious about learning, pick this.

Best resource for learning drums I have found.

I’ve worked with Trinity music syllabus’ for many years. The new books, so far look excellent and a great variety of songs and exercises. My only small gripe is the downloadable tracks are not Android friendly. You can neither access them via the mobile web and there is currently no app. This means an extra layer of faff, downloading your music to PC and then on to what ever device is your preference. Hopefully they will adapt the rock and pop app to work with these tracks too.

Challenged by Grades 03-05 (separate review) I went back to basics with Initial-Grade 02. The content is excellent, starting with rudiments, followed by exercises that incorporate those rudiments, followed by the performance piece. Performance notes are included for each piece. The layout is clear and easy to follow. Audio tracks to accompany the book can be downloaded from SoundWise without issue – there’s an access code at the back of the book. A great deal of thought has been involved in producing this series of excellent books – essential for anyone working towards exams. I drum for fun and am enjoying working through the grades – even though I won’t be taking exams. I recommend these books for those starting out as well as being great revision for established drummers to hone their flams, drags, ruffs and rolls!
