As a Grandma within a family of a same sex relationship I am delighted this book has been written. It gently illustrates the love and connection we all feel for our families, however the family is made up. The book is well written and delightfully illustrated, it made me smile. Cannot wait to read this to my grandsons and I encourage everyone to read it and share it. In fact, this book should be available within schools, it’s a fun book with an important message. More please.

We were looking for a good book about a boy with two dads which wasn’t too sentimental or idealised. This fits the bill. It complements our sons other books that present families in a more traditional way, and our son absolutely loves it, asking for it all the time. Almost every aspect of the story has something that relates to his day to day experience. It would also be a good book for other children who may have questions as to why one of their friends or cousins has two dads.

We have 2 adopted little boys who have changed our lives. We were recommended this book as part of our reading from NewFamilysocial and our local adoption agency. The books is amazing – gentle and beautifully written and illustrated. it has really helped our boys to understand that they are special and different but then so are all families. We have read it so many times that we all know it word for word. If we want to work towards an inclusive and accepting future society then it should be on the reading list for schools in my opinion.

this book is great, I bought this for the little one I had in placement at the time who was being adopted by two Dads. It was a great way to introduce the idea to him and this book went with him to his new forever home with his Dads. It did give him certain ideas of what dads would do so they surely had to learn to make their own pizza and have water fights at bath time!

Received today, after purchasing 3 books about different families. This was the most expensive book but definitely the worst quality. I had a quick look through being extra careful not to over bend the pages before giving it as a gift and yet the pages are already curling. The pages are paper with no lacquer or protective film and the cover is extremely thin. This won’t last 2 reads of an adult let alone a child. The story itself, not really a bedtime story but i can see that it would open conversations. All in all a bit “meh”. Cost definitely is not an indicator of quality! Gutted.

We love this book! As about to be same sex adopters, this book has really helped the little people already in our lives develop an understanding of ‘different’ families. If you are same sex parents about to start a family it’s a staple favourite to have on your bookshelf for friends and family. It’s been a fantastic springboard for talking about our future family with little nieces and nephews, we just know our children will benefit with identifying with the characters. It’s also beautifully illustrated, and a really fun portrayal of family life. Can’t wait to buy the next one. Well done on putting it out there.

Its a nice little book that reinforces the idea that having two parents is ok. It does not go slind deep or adds real meaning to the issue. It rhymes and its ok but one feels there is something lacking. If the book is meant to be read when putting the child to sleep, this is not the one as there is not really a story.
