Unfinished Business – The Life & Times of Danny Gatton
£9.90
(Book). Danny Gatton was a players’ guitar player, hailed by both Rolling Stone and Guitar Player as the greatest unknown guitarist anywhere. His legend has only grown since his untimely suicide in 1994, along with appreciation for his blinding speed, effortless genre-hopping, flawless technique, and never-ending appetite for tinkering and problem-solving. Drawing from first-hand interviews with dozens of friends, family members and fellow musicians, Unfinished Business places Gatton’s musical contributions into context, and documents his influence on those peers who admired him most, including Albert Lee, Vince Gill, Arlen Roth and Lou Reed.

I bought this for a drummer of all people, the guy knows his onions when it comes to music and thoroughly enjoyed this book especially the technical aspects of Danny’s playing and guitar setups.

Fascinating read on one of the best

I have enjoyed reading about this amazing guitar player, but the fact that every other page comes away in my hand is very poor. This might be a one off but the book shouldn’t fall apart on reading. I really love books and would have liked to keep this on my book shelf to read again or give to someone else, but as I say with pages dropping out it will likely be binned. It’s a shame as I have enjoyed the narrative and feel bad that I have given it only 3 stars. In terms of the actual writing and topic it warrants a higher star review.
