So many recipe ideas! I wish I’d bought it sooner!

My baby has CMPA and is also allergic to eggs. I felt so overwhelmed trying to think of things to make her. This book has helped me SO much. There are so many lovely recipes to try and most of them are things that are easy for baby to hold and munch on. Crucially, all the recipes can be made with dairy and egg free alternatives and this is SO well considered in the book. Couldn’t be without this book

Easy to follow when trying to wean
by laura dootson
I was recommended this book and I do like it and would recommend it to others.
The good: It’s given me the inspiration and confidence to carry on with baby led weaning (which my baby definitely prefers).
The recipes are tasty and things all of us have enjoyed.
There’s nothing particularly complicated in here – the recipes are easy to follow and so far the ingredients are things I already have in.
There are some genuinely quick and easy things I wouldn’tve thought of – like a microwave pasta sauce etc.
I haven’t found anything too adventurous for my 7 month old. The book is great at explaining how to serve the food to your baby. I saw a reviewer saying a 6 month old wouldn’t have chicken nuggets and chips. Mine did! Chicken “nuggets” cut lengthwise and sweet potato wedges. He loved it and was fine eating it. But this obviously depends on your individual approach to weaning and your baby’s ability to hold, chew, swallow etc. Only you know your child!
The bad: I’d struggle to use it every day – some of the recipes say they take 20 minutes when they take that long in the oven without the prep (chicken satay I’m looking at you!) And the amount of washing up for some of them is insane. If it takes 10 minutes to make but uses every utensil in the drawer it isn’t worth it!
To make things taste good a lot of the recipes have cheese. I’m OK with that sometimes but not sure I want to give my baby cheese every day – I wouldn’t usually eat that much and there’s quite a lot of salt in it.
Also the recipes use low salt versions of things but use twice as much as I would use of the normal one. Not sure there’s any point switching?
I’d like it if allergens were marked more clearly on the recipes. Like sesame in the hummus for example. But it’s not a massive issue – I can figure it out.
Some of the portion sizes are a bit questionable – possibly because my little one is very little!
I don’t care about the pictures personally but I guess more would be nice.

Daddy has been making most of the meals in this house! This book has been great, most of the meals we cook come from it, they are all really quick and easy and our son loves them!
Lots of good snacks and freezer stash food too.
The only bad thing I would say is that the proof reader has missed a few details. Some of the recipes tell you for example that they need ‘a courgette’ and say to mix all the items together but don’t say whether the courgette is sliced, diced or grated, etc. This is no problem for a competent cook but some people may find this hard to follow.

Great book

This has changed our meal times. We eat healthier, our baby ears healthier and offers a great variety. I’m no cook by any measure but the simple and quick meals make things a breeze. Most meals can be prepared in 10-15 mins max. Very impressed

Really great book. Highly recommend for weaning. Simple no easy to follow. The best book I’ve used and I’ve used a few!
