I was looking for a maths practice journal for my fourth grader to gain maths knowledge through some extra practice. This practice journal is great, which is exactly what my little child will be working on in fourth her grade maths. It starts out with easy questions and then progressively gets more difficult.

This book is also so think and I love that there are a lot of math problems in it. We can work on these all these couple of months. The print is large with plenty of space to work out each problems. There is enough worksheets to teach and reinforce your child’s math knowledge.

I have bought a lot of practice workbooks for my girl on different subjects and this is by far one of my favourites so far.

Great math’s book with lots of content. My son loves Math’s and enjoys working through these. Includes things like place value, fractions, money, shapes etc. same as the year 3 book just a little harder. Unfortunately answers aren’t in the back and you have to go online like most books now. Great quality at a great price.

This is a popular course studied within schools and I was pleased to find this complementing home workbook. I like that on the inside cover there is clear guidance for how best to use the book. The book is intended to follow school studies, week by week. I like how there are summary pages, some alternate activities and codes to crack. I don’t think following the classroom learning by week is a guarantee, but there is no reason why sections can’t be completed in batches.

The reflection pages are a useful tool, particularly in the lead-up to teacher feedback in the classroom. Answers are accessed by scanning a QR code – less chance of a sneaky peek!

The pages are bright and colourful, the paper quality is good. I would recommend having spare paper to hand for extra workings out. Some of the questions are a bit tricker than others, but I think this is where the feedback pages are useful.

In my opinion, this is a good way to closely follow classroom learning that is a thorough way to test independent understanding. It helps top-up learning, especially if Maths is a more challenging subject.

the questions in this workbook are not simple add/subtract/fractions type questions. instead, each question is rooted in everyday life and so makes you think of the problem behind the maths. This real world maths is in my view a far more effective way of teaching, keeping a child’s interest and allaying boredom.

Comprehensive coverage of everything a 7-9 year old might need for maths!

Although this book is full of weekly practice lessons, I’ll probably use it much more often as I home tutor my daughters. I really like the White Rose Maths teaching methods – my daughter used them a lot whilst in school – the lessons are laid out well and easy to understand.

This book follows the same methods into year 4. There’s plenty of different maths subjects, split into the 3 school terms, for those wanting to follow the suggested weekly practice questions. Subjects include area, decimals, fractions, money, shape and time, to name just a small selection.

I really love that each lesson is explained clearly, for both children and parents and there’s termly assessments too.

Unlike many workbooks, the book doesn’t waste space with pages of answers. There’s instead a QR code on the back cover for parents to access the answers if needed – good stuff 🙂

Priced at £4.99 for 128 pages, it’s a great value workbook for youngsters looking to build on their maths skills.

Great value practice Math journals that cover what has been taught in class step by step. It’s been a VERY long time since I did Math in school and the way I was taught it, certainly won’t be the way my son is now and in the future so these books allow me to help him, while following how it would be taught in class. Clear, concise and not overwhelming, these books are bright, colourful and engaging for homework at home. Answers can be found online and I’d certainly recommend these for help with home-school learning.
