I really enjoyed this book overall, it kept me guessing all the way through. My only criticism is that the ending was very abrupt and just wasn’t quite right for me. Otherwise a very good read

A story set during the pandemic times which was interesting. The narrative switches between ‘ before’ and ‘after’ the main event of the book, leading the reader around the garden path and into dead end clues. I found the to-ing and fro-ing of this writing style quite frustrating, especially with the number of characters involved. Also, I realised quite early on where the location was that everyone was looking for. Read it as a book club read, may not read another by this author.

I read this book on holiday, thoroughly enjoyed it, if you like Susan Lewis I’m sure you’ll enjoy this one, I love the way she carries some of her characters through her books.

Beware possible plot spoilers.
I enjoyed reading this book, and liked the fact that for a long time it wasn’t clear where it was going – normally I can predict the whole plot within a couple of chapters. However, I find that most books live or die by their ending, and I did feel that the author made it too clear who one of the guilty parties was, to the point where I thought it must be a red herring. I’m usually embarrassingly poor at guessing whodunit but on this occasion I did feel it was made obvious.
But my biggest gripe is with the treatment of one of the characters, who to me seemed clearly autistic. However, this was never acknowledged, and I felt the character was treated unsympathetically by the author, leaving me thinking that she’d based them on someone she knows but with no understanding of why they are the way they are. Instead we were given to understand that her behaviour was due to other factors in her life.
But on the whole a good book, and I would recommend.

I have read other books by Susan Lewis, and didn’t feel this was the best. Lockdown was a terrible time and impacted on society, causing long term issues for many. Certainly the rules were adhered too . They all respected social distances, but maybe a little was lost by doing so. However looking forward to reading the next one, because Sussan Lewis is an excellent. Author.

I like this author, I enjoy her books. This one I am struggling to read and most likely won’t finish. Because I just cannot have covid rammed down my throat throughout the book! Masks, lockdowns, social distancing, not hugging friends and family..,…. it is bad enough that these things happened once, to immortalise them in fiction, no. Super bad decision by the author, and publisher if you ask me.

An amazing story that keeps you guessing right to the very end!
I really couldn’t put it down! What was so intriguing was that I even thought about it when not reading it!!
Recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good read!
