As a driver who has absolutely zero desire to own an electric car I jumped at the chance to read this book. The author has thoroughly researched facts and I found the book both interesting and informative. While there was a lot of information in the book I found it interesting and easy to read. Definitely convinced me that I made the right choice.

The author first gives a comprehensive overview of powered vehicles and aircraft, from steam through to battery powered electric vehicles (EVs). He discusses the relative pros and cons of each.
His research brings to light many crucial points and unanswered questions about the real costs of electric vehicle production, the massive shortfall in the infrastructure required, and the many limitations of electric vehicle technology which are so glibly shrugged off by those who champion this so called ‘clean’ technology as a vital component in the achievement of Utopian Net Zero targets.
Colin Barron sets his book in the context of the current political opposition to the development and refinement of conventional, tried and tested petrol and diesel technologies and predicts the dismal future which lies ahead if the present trajectory continues unchallenged. As you read each chapter, the evidence builds until it becomes impossible to deny the inescapable conclusion that the widely promoted advantages of EVs are vastly outweighed by their disadvantages. However, the author’s even more sobering conclusions concern the actions of the most powerful players on the world stage. He describes with clarity the folly of the current obsession with ‘climate change’ and discusses the damage this is doing to the progress of our economy and the very real threat to our personal freedoms. He illustrates his concerns with weighty evidence and predicts the bleak future which lies ahead.
If you have any interest in learning the unvarnished truth about EVs, read this book.

There are few topics in the modern world which polarise opinion quite so much as the issue of the environment. That is why volumes such as this have become so valuable. The author takes a balanced and nuanced approach to this flashpoint subject, outlining the areas where scientific opinion diverges and offering a welcome appraisal of likely future developments in ways which are calmly presented and backed up by a variety of documentary sources. The end result is a fair and astute evaluation of a very complex topic, presented with prosaic grace and concision. If you only buy one book on this problematic subject, this one provides considerable clarity and a crucial sense of even-handedness.

If you’re thinking of buying an electric car you must read Colin Barron’s book before you part with your money. If you aren’t thinking of buying an electric car, buy this book to reassure yourself that you have made a wise decision. And if you know someone who has bought an electric car buy Dr Barron’s book so that you can convince them that they’ve made a mistake, and can counter their inevitable smugness and false sense of moral superiority.

The many pitfalls of our politician’s headlong rush to achieve the loony concept of net zero and force everything to become powered by electricity are detailed with lots of facts and statistics in Colin’s book.
He keeps everything interesting with some history of various forms of transport and lots of details. The impracticality and drawbacks of the plans for electric cars, heat pumps and the lack of infrastructure to generate electricity to support them all are laid bare. Our UK politicians have been utterly useless for decades and they are now leading us into a very damaged future through their ignorance, incompetence and sheer wrongheadedness. This is a useful book to help argue for a resistance to the ideas which are being put forward by the climate cultists.

It’s time politicians should sit exams to establish their competence in understanding complex technical issue instead of dreaming up silly ideas that are totally unworkable unaffordable and have little regard for the overall damage their decisions will cause to the environment and people’s lives and lively hoods !
They should stop listening to the Green activists and all the dooms day weather predictions !
