There is nothing quite so satisfying as capturing a stunning wildlife photograph; a good one will reflect practice, patience, careful equipment choice and dedication. Those challenges are perhaps why so many enthusiast photographers aspire to perfect their images in this area; to get their work recognised by the photographic community as well as record their experiences.
This book reveals more world-class images with every turn. More than that, though, it takes a practical approach. It comprehensively introduces natural-history and wildlife photography techniques alongside truly useful tips about what gear you’ll need (and what you can avoid) in your pursuit of perfection. It is illustrated by the author’s professional work; his clients include National Geographic & Time amongst others.

A nice book with some useful tips on wildlife photography. The photos included are great however, although there are some good tips there is not much writing or details and the chapters (i.e one to two pages) on areas to visit are really not suitable for those of us who work and are married to non-photographers. They are focussed on places that would take up half my holiday allocation and a great deal of my salary to visit. Overall the book is more of a showcase for Bernabes’ photographs than a real guide for photographers.

A beautiful book full of great tips and inspiring pictures. I hope to go on one of his workshops in the future but in the meantime I’ll read the book from cover to cover and get out and take some pictures.

This book was a really good read. Nice and easy to read but with lots of information and tips for taking better photographs. One of the best books I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading. Totally loved it.

A highly readable general guide to the photography of wildlife. The author is a highly competent photographer and the reproduction of his attractive and creative images is excellent; it is is good to see so much space given over to them. The accompanying narrative is informative and well written.

I’m a decent photographer, new the majority of the information, but really liked the sections on places to go around the world, with times of year and species to see.

Having bought this book out of an interest to move into wildlife photography, liking the preview and following the author Richard Bernarbe on Twitter, I was immediately drawn in and really impressed with such a beautiful book.
He has covered everything from photography basics, gear, lighting, geography and every possible aspect of any animal you encounter you could think of, including taking your camera kit under water!!! (Something I am now seriously considering).
There is a great balance between learning how to take various shots and showcasing some truly amazing wildlife photography, this would be a great buy for both those interested in photography and those just interested in some of the amazing animals on our planet and how they were captured through photos.
I will not be putting this down for a while and the more I read the more inspiring Richards journey across the planet is.
Beautiful animals captured with beautiful photography.
