‘As always, Ching’s recipes are not only deliciously healthy but easy enough for anyone to have a go at and enjoy.’ – Tom Kerridge
Perfect for sautéing, braising, frying and steaming, cooking with a wok is a way of life all over Asia. In Wok On, bestselling author Ching-He Huang celebrates the huge versatility of this magical 2,000-year-old cooking pot with a modern collection of recipes that are simple enough for every day as well as every cook.
Featuring dishes from across Asia, including Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Macau, almost every recipe can be made in 30 minutes or less and has been created with nutrition, taste and affordability in mind. Many are suitable for those with gluten and dairy allergies and, because Asian food typically includes lots of vegetables, many are also vegetarian or vegan too.

Lovely hardback book with many delicious and easy to follow recipes. I bought this book as a gift for my husband, who loves cooking, along with a small wok and we have enjoyed so many different meals. Even I have successfully followed a couple of recipes which is amazing as I’m not a great cook.

Love the recipes in this book. If you are vegetarian there are enough vegetarian recipes
to make it worth buying. It doesn’t require lots of obscure ingredients.
It’s great to be able to make tasty stir fry sauces rather than buying
them ready made.

I love Asian cuisine, especially Chinese and Cantonese.
I love Ching He Huang’s cooking and have many of her books and well used they are too.
This book however has the first 56 pages of recipes dedicated to vegan /vegetarian dishes.
Now having lived across Asia for many years, vegetarian dishes are a staple of Asian cuisine and very nice they are when the mood takes you.
What annoys me about this book and any other vegan/vegetarian recipes are the ‘Mock’ meat dishes. Either you do or do not eat meat products, so why has Ching and other cooks devised recipes making non animal products look and taste like meat, I find the whole thing massively hypocritical. This will be going straight back!
I just want to say that I have no qualms/problems with anyone being vegan or vegetarian but I feel Ching has jumped on a bandwagon with this one.
